28 septembre 2013 - Visite de Kate CADDEY et Alexander PECK

Le 28 septembre 2013, nous avons eu l'immense plaisir de recevoir Kate et son fils Alexander, venus d'Australie et qui étaient alors en voyage en Europe.
Kate est la belle-soeur de Cynthia TOMALIN, c'est à dire l'épouse de Garth PECK, frère de Cynthia (voir l'article précédent). Ils habitent Forresters-Beach, dans les Nouvelles Galles du Sud en Australie.
Kate voulait connaitre Courgent ainsi que ses habitants dont des compliments lui avaient été transmis par Cynthia. Alexander voulait voir le lieu du crash de l'avion, avion dans lequel son glorieux grand-père Richard Eric PECK, membre du précédent équipage, avait accompli de nombreuses missions à bord de ce même avion et dont il était revenu vivant.

September 28, 2013, we had the great pleasure of receiving Kate and her son Alexander, coming from Australia and then were traveling in Europe.
Kate is Cynthia TOMALIN's sister in law, that is to say Garth PECK's wife, Cynthia's brother (see previous article). They live Forresters-Beach in New South Wales in Australia.
Kate wanted to know Courgent and its inhabitants, as compliments had been transmitted to her by Cynthia. Alexander wanted to see the site of the plane crash, plane in which his glorious grandfather Richard Eric PECK, member of the previous crew, had flown many missions aboard this same plane and from he returned alive.
 Kate et Alexander sont arrivés le matin à Mantes-la-Jolie par le train depuis Paris et votre serviteur les a conduits jusqu'à Courgent où un café-croissants les attendait.

Kate and Alexander arrived in the morning at Mantes-la-Jolie by train from Paris and your servant took them up to Courgent where a coffee-croissants was waiting them.
En petit comité d'accueil, composé du maire, de membres du conseil municipal et de votre serviteur, nous avons accompagné Kate et Alexander pour une visite de l'église, du carré militaire au cimetière et de la stèle sur le lieu du crash de l'avion.

In a small welcoming committee, composed of the mayor, some city council members and your servant, we accompanied Kate and Alexander for a tour of the church, the military square in the cemetery and the stele on the site of the plane crash.

Puis, nous nous sommes rendus à la mairie où des épouses nous ont rejoints. 





Nos visiteurs ont semblé très émus de ce que nous leur avons montré ainsi que d'avoir découvert le mémorial photographique installé en mairie.
Then we went to the town hall where some wives have joined us.
Our visitors seemed very moved by what we showed them and to have discovered the photographic memorial installed in the town hall.

 Nous avons ensuite invité nos hôtes à l'auberge de La Jument Verte à Montchauvet, chacun ayant payé son repas, ainsi que chacun ayant payé une part des repas de nos hôtes.
We then invited our guests at the Inn of La Jument Verte (The Green Mare) in Montchauvet, each having paid his meal, and each having paid a share of meals for our guests.

 

 





 



 

 



 

Nous avons terminé l'après-midi par une visite du cimetière de Montchauvet

dans lequel sont inhumés cinq aviateurs anglais et un aviateur australien.

We ended the afternoon by visiting the cemetery of Montchauvet

in which are buried five British airmen and one Australian airman.

Votre serviteur a ensuite reconduit Kate et Alexander en voiture à la gare de Mantes-la-Jolie en début de soirée pour un retour à Paris, en nous promettant de nous revoir bientôt.

Then your servant driven back Kate and Alexander to Mantes-la-Jolie train station early evening for returning to Paris, promising to meet again soon.
